What are the main aims of Leadership Skills Foundation?
With their vision for 'Every Young Person To Realise Their Potential,’ the main aim of Leadership Skills Foundation is to develop confident, healthy leaders through sport and physical activity.
Through their awards and qualifications, Leadership Skills Foundation aim to equip young people with employability skills for life improving motivation, self-esteem, communication, team work and confidence. Leadership volunteering is a vital part of all our courses allowing young people to practice and build their skills to help them in employment and education.
Leadership Skills Foundation want to ensure that all young people have the ability to realise their potential, whatever their career pathway, by mapping skills against their Qualifications and Awards.
How does Leadership Skills Foundation's work help Sport Wales to achieve an Active Nation?
Sport Wales investment enables the Leadership Skills Foundation team to focus on supporting an already established and successful local authority engagement model. It assists with ensuring that key partners and 'Centres' are supported to tutor, deliver, and assess our qualifications successfully.
Utilising their expertise as an awarding body operating within education and across community sport settings, Leadership Skills Foundation aim to support all young people aged 9-18 from all backgrounds across all communities in Wales
Over 50,000 young Welsh people (52% female) have gained a qualification and/or award through Leadership Skills Foundation. This has contributed to more than 1 million hours of learning and volunteering being delivered in Wales.
How can Leadership Skills Foundation support the wider network of partners in our united Vision for Sport?
Local authorities, schools, colleges, community sports clubs, NGBs and other national partners such as the Urdd, YST and StreetGames are naturally built into Leadership Skills Foundation’s model and offer.
The model helps to influence the education sector in Wales and create an army of qualified and skilled volunteers annually (10,000+ every year) where further opportunities are created to support programmes delivered by other strategic partners in Wales.
It creates the coaches and officials of tomorrow and creates an infrastructure that other organisations, partners and the sector benefit from.
