It could be third time lucky for Victoria as she looks to clinch a Gold medal at Tokyo 2020. Having finished 5th in 2012 and progressing to the podium to win silver in 2016, Victoria will have her sights on the top prize at the Olympics.

Victoria took an unusual route into rowing. ‘Sporting Giants,’ a talent ID search programme, was looking for potential rowers and after Vicky participated in a couple of weekends of testing before being enrolled on the World Class Start programme. 

One thing you didn’t know about Victoria Thornley

Lockdown wasn’t kind to Victoria as she adapted her training, switching from the boat to the bike and ended up breaking her arm. It’s fair to say she’ll be happy to be back on the water at the Olympics.
