After winning a World Championship Bronze as a single sculler in 2017, Tom Barras will be making his Olympic debut as part of the Quadruple Sculls team.

Although Team GB’s rowing team usually experience success on the water, they have never returned a medal in the Quadruple Sculls event since it was introduced in 1976. Tom will be hoping his experience and prowess as a single sculler can help end that drought.

What club did Tom start rowing at?

At just 11 years old, Tom began rowing at Burway Rowing Club and he took to the sculls like a duck to water. His skills were developed further on the River Taff as part of the Cardiff University team where Tom went on to represent Wales.

Outside of rowing, Tom is a physiotherapist and nutritional adviser. Bet his teammates know who to turn to when they have a sore back!
