  4. £74,499 given out in second round of Emergency Relief Fund

Almost a quarter of a million pounds has now been approved for clubs in Wales in just two weeks of the Emergency Relief Fund.

A total of 36 clubs are being provided with funding through this week’s second batch of approved applications. Eight applications have been deferred as they await more information or confirmation of other Government funding.

The second set of grants come after £163,196 was approved for 68 clubs in the first set of applications.

Of the approved applicants:

  • Clubs have been supported in all 22 local authority areas
  • Funding is being made for clubs covering 22 different sports
  • Support for 9 clubs to help with damage caused by winter floods

A total of 424 applications have been received by Sport Wales, with more than 200 still being processed with the support of partners, such as governing bodies.

The Emergency Relief Fund is aimed at not-for-profit sport clubs in need of immediate financial support due to the financial impact of Coronavirus and the recent floods.

The maximum award from the Emergency Relief Fund is £5,000. Clubs approved for funding should receive their funding within days.

Timescales from application to decision are currently within 10 working days, unless more information is required or the club is awaiting confirmation of other funding sources.

The next round of decisions are scheduled for Tuesday (5th May), with clubs informed of decisions in the following days.
