Ynys Mon 2019 in Numbers

International football comes to Anglesey as the 2019 Inter-Games Football Tournament is hosted across the island this month.

The Ynys Môn tournament kicks off this Sunday (June 16th), with football teams from islands across the globe heading to North Wales.

First, let's do some number-crunching!

30 - how many games will be played over the 6 days

10 - the number of islands represented in the tournament, with 16 teams

4,780 - the number of miles travelled by the St Helena teams to get to Anglesey

2,700 - the amount of minutes of international men's and women's football that will be played during the summer tournament (not including extra-time and penalties!)

12 - the number of pitches on the island that will be used

16 - the age of the youngest player across the squads. Ynys Môn's Catrin Evans is 16-year-old. The winger has been earmarked as one to watch for the tournament, by women's manager Karen Williams

64 - The number of caps Ynys Môn's women's team goalkeeper Nicky Davies has won for the Welsh women's national team.

20 - It is 20 years to this summer when Ynys Môn won their only gold medal in the football competition, as the men's side (then led by the current Wales Assistant Manager Osian Roberts) went all the way in Gotland in 1999 and bagged the top prize.

2025 - Hoping to build on the Inter-Games, this is the year Ynys Môn Island Games Association hope to host the International Island Games. The bid to host the event, dubbed the mini-Olympics is in full swing.
