Salary – Grade 5 - £26,838.24 - £29,589.16
Working Hours – 37hrs – (Permanent Position)
WHO WE ARE
Sport Wales is the national organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and physical activity in Wales. We are the main adviser on sporting matters to the Welsh Government and are responsible for distributing National Lottery funds. We aim to not only improve the level of sports participation at grassroots level but also provide our aspiring athletes with the support required to compete successfully on the world stage.
Plas Menai is the Sport Wales National Outdoor Centre for Wales. We have been delivering Adventurous Activities and Training Instructors for the Industry for over 37 years, from our base on the Menai Strait, near Caernarfon in Gwynedd.

HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE
We are looking for an experienced individual who will be responsible for the busy swimming pool at Plas Menai. The pool has a wide-ranging activity programme and a busy swimming lesson programme for both children and adults.
As the Swimming Pool Supervisor/ Instructor you will be involved in the day-to-day lifeguarding and teaching duties. However, there will also be admin time to ensure that the water quality reaches the industry standards and ensuring that the pool plant is operating efficiently.
You will be responsible for the line management of the permanent and casual pool staff and will ensure that their training is managed on a monthly basis.
Who you’ll work with
You will be working with a Team of Instructors and Lifeguards. However you will be required to maintain close working relationships with other Teams across the Centre and you will be line managed by the Operations & Programme Manager.
There will also be an opportunity to work with external bodies like the RLSS, Swim Wales and the RNLI on campaigns like SwimSafe.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of 2 Years’ Experience of working at a supervisory level in a Leisure Facility with a swimming pool.
You must be 18 years or older to apply for this post.
Have, knowledge and experience of managing pool water plant and filtration systems, including backwashing. Hold a ISRM or equivalent qualification in Pool Plant Operation.
A working understanding of the Management of Health & Safety at Work Act
Hold a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and have up to date IQL refresher training logged.
Hold a valid RLSS UK Trainer Assessor Qualification
Hold a UKCC L2 Certificate in Coaching or Teaching Aquatics
Hold a First Aid Qualification
Experience of dealing with people in a customer service environment
