Arwain Cymru: People and Governance Framework
The Arwain Cymru Framework helps us:
- Build confidence in the organisations we fund.
- Support partners to improve governance and leadership.
- Encourage strong cultures, behaviours, and integrity.
What is Arwain Cymru?
Arwain Cymru combines two previous frameworks:
- Capability Framework
- Governance and Leadership Framework for Wales (GLFW)
It reflects:
- Changes in society.
- Lessons from global governance events.
- The need for continuous improvement.
Good governance isn’t just ticking boxes. This framework is a practical and developmental tool to help organisations strengthen performance and grow.
What Does It Include?
This framework incorporates both core and good practice elements
Core elements = Minimum standards every funded partner must meet.
Good practice = Examples of innovation and leadership to inspire improvement.
The framework has 5 key principles:
- Organisational legal and compliance
- People and cultures
- Insight, engagement and strategy
- An effectively run organisation
- Finance
How to use the Framework?
To make the most of Arwain Cymru, funded partners should:
- Review the Framework
Understand the core requirements and good practice examples. - Self-Declare
Check your organisation against the framework elements. - Create an Improvement Plan
Develop a Governance and People Improvement Plan to support continuous development.
