After setting the Welsh record for the 50m butterfly back in February, Harriet secured her place at Tokyo 2020 when she won the 100m butterfly at the Olympic trials in April. Winning the race with a time of 57.79 saw her within the qualification standard and beat Welsh compatriot, Alys Thomas by less than a second.

Harriet Jones started swimming at City of Cardiff Swimming Club. She will be the latest Olympian to hail from the Capital City’s club, following in the footsteps of the eight Cardiff swimmers who competed for GB at Montreal 1976 as well as two-time Silver medallist, David Davies, and more recently, Ieuan Lloyd and Chloe Tutton.
