Geraint has become a household name, not only in Wales, but across the UK. He was already a double Olympic gold winning cyclist before clinching the coveted Yellow Jersey at the Tour de France in 2018. G didn’t taste the same success at Rio 2016 so will be hoping to return to winning ways at Tokyo 2020.

In the same year, his incredible efforts in the French mountains got him recognition across the UK when he was voted the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, joining fellow Welshmen Ryan Giggs, Joe Calzaghe, David Broome and Dai Rees as winners of the award.

What club did Geraint start cycling at?

Just like his Team GB teammate Elinor Barker, Geraint started cycling with Maindy Flyers. As a 9 year old, G would watch the cyclists from over a fence.
