Remuneration – Voluntary (reasonable expenses will be paid)

Duration: 3 year initial term with the option to extend for a further term of 3 years

Time Commitment – Approximately 6 days per annum

Who Are We

Sport Wales is the national organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and physical activity in Wales.  We are the main adviser on sporting matters to the Welsh Government and are responsible for distributing National Lottery funds. We aim to not only improve the level of sports participation at grassroots level but also provide our aspiring athletes with the support required to compete successfully on the world stage. Your contribution

We are looking for an experienced individual who will be able to fully contribute to the effective running of the Committee, providing Board with oversight and monitoring of the arrangements the organisation has in place in relation to risk management, governance and the system of internal control.

The Committee meets 4 times a year (typically March, June, September & December) with additional opportunities for development sessions. Committee meetings are usually held at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff, with an option for members to join remotely through video-conferencing.

Who you’ll work with

You will work closely with the Chair of the Audit & Risk Assurance Committee along with other members of the committee to provide support, scrutiny and challenge to the Executive and assurance to the Board

You will also work closely with our Internal Auditors (Deloitte) and External Auditors (Audit Wales).

What you'll Need

We are looking for candidates who are CCAB qualified (or equivalent) Accountants with experience operating at a strategic level within an organisation and a knowledge and understanding of financial statements, ideally including Charity and public sector accounts
