We Are Red

We are RedOn the 23rd of March 2018, Wales turns red to show their support for the Welsh athletes who will represent us at the Commonwealth Games in Australia. 

It is an opportunity for the whole nation to unite and celebrate Welsh sport and show how we Inspire, we Respect, and we Believe in our Welsh sporting talent - whether at grassroots or elite.

Why Red? It's Wales' signature colour. It's in our blood. We live and breathe it.

Who's it for? Everybody can get involved! Take a look at our Primary and Comprehensive Schools competition below for exciting prizes. Whether you're part of a sports club, youth club or just going to be at the office on Friday the 23rd, there's so much you can do to be part of We Are Red day.

Primary School Competiton

Enter our #WEARERED PRIMARY SCHOOL competition and be within a chance to win an incredible prize for your school including:

  • A special shout-out over social media from the Team Wales athletes all the way from Australia
  • A school visit after the games
  • A huge supporters pack full of red and Welsh decorations to cover your school ready for #WeAreRed day on Friday, 23 March

How to enter:

  • Print the colouring We Are Red competition template here. Click here for an example. 
  • Distribute the template to your pupils and ask them to draw themselves playing their favourite sport.
  • Ask the pupils to describe how they will be supporting Wales, e.g. Watching the Games on TV with their parents, wear their brightest red top, cheer as loud as they can, wear Welsh face paints.
  • Take a quick picture of the pupils holding up their drawings to the camera, then POST the picture from your school or teacher's Facebook or Twitter account using #WeAreRed. If you prefer, you can also email the picture to communications@sport.wales.
  • Closing date: Midday, 16 March 2018.

Comprehensive Schools: Is your school up for the challenge?

To be within a chance of winning a special shout-out over social media from the Team Wales athletes all the way from Australia as well as a school visit after the games, we want to see you guys going all out on the 23rd.

 How to enter:

  • Here are some ideas to inspire you:  Comprehensive Schools Challenge Card
  • The winner will be chosen by a Team Wales representative. Click here for full Terms and Conditions. 
  • Take a photo or video of your activities and share from your your school's or teacher's Twitter or Facebook account, you must use #WeAreRed or #CymryCoch in your post.
  • The school who celebrates in the most impressive or more energetic way will be crowned winners - and don't forget you'll be competing against other schools across the country. 
  • Closing date:Friday, 23 March at 6pm.
